Nelly vs. Channel 2 News

nelly

A man who hip-hop star Nelly referred to as his cousin was killed last Wednesday night outside a home in the 8000 block of Nola, near the intersection of N. Hanley and St. Charles Rock Road. Michael Johnson, 36, was shot multiple times while leaving or entering the home in unincorporated St. Louis County. Police have no suspects or motives for the crime.

Last night, KPLR Channel 11 and KTVI Channel 2 reported that Johnson was one of Nelly’s bodyguards. But that’s not true, says Nelly.

Nelly also used his tweets that night to air outrage with the news stations (that share reporters and stories) after they confronted him yesterday to discuss Johnson’s death. At the time, Nelly was at Lindenwood University, handing out two full scholarships that he provides to the school.

Here’s what Nelly had to say via twitter:

“Contrary to some reports Michael Johnson wasn’t my bodyguard! he was my cuzzen and my friend!!I will always luv n miss u MJ!!!!! Channel 2 stl don’t Ever have 2worry about another interview from me or a stlunatic ever again!! There not invited 2any of my functions!! Why would you channel 2 mix me giving away scholarships 2 students with the murder of my cuzzen after I told u I didn’t want 2talk about it. Ino its your right chnnel 2 but Y is it when a brother goes to do good they wanna make the bad the headline?thanx for the home town support. After watching channel 2’s broadcast its clear to me about motives!my cuzzen deserved his own segment as well as the 2 deserving students!!I’m NEVER WATCHING CHANNEL 2 news in stl ever again!!! STLOUIS SPREAD THE WORD!!!”

Channel 2 had a video response to what Nelly had to say but they have since removed the video from the internet. I think that was a good decision. Keep your head up Nelly.

I think I  can kind of appreciate Kobe channeling his more “artistic side” (I guess) but these photos did him absolutely no justice. It’s so bad that I dont think people are even interested in WHAT he took the pictures for and are more concerned with WHY he took them. Do you Kobe, do you.
#Shoutout to Mademonarchs for the pics!

Now all jokes aside. I ACTUALLY enjoyed this video a little. The song…ot so much…but she tried. It was very colorful, she’s definitely stepped her style game up, and the guy in the video wasn’t hard on the eyes. I don’t like that EVERYBODY is on their Lady Gaga ish but what can we do about it. Keep up the good work Khia! :)

crystal xbox

I’m not a video game player but I cant say that seeing this Swarovski crystal covered X-Box didn’t make me want to start! Spotted over at The Life Files, this XBOX 360 pictured above was commissioned by Microsoft Australia for a PR promotion and features 11,520 single Swarovski crystals designed by CrystalRoc. I’m not sure if it was custom made or not but isn’t it pretty! I’ll keep you updated on whether or not it will ever retail in the US.

Is 4/20 Good or Bad??

420

Most are celebrating April 20, 2010 different ways all over the world. To some it’s just a regular day but to most it has a totally different meaning. Some celebrate Canibus Culture which is a term originated by California police for “marijuana smoking in progress” and a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California, 1971. The teens would meet after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the Louis Pasteur statue.

But other people say they refuse to celebrate this day for it is also the birthday of an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party, commonly known as the Nazi Party, Aldof Hitler and also the 11th anniversary of the shootings at Columbine high school.

Now I won’t knock anybody and their beliefs or reasoning for celebrating this day but what about Luther?? YES Luther Vandross! Today is his birthday and instead of celebrating with the weed smokers and crazy people I’d rather just sit back and enjoy some tunes from the late great Luther Vandross. So if you’re with me sing along:

Gang Starr’s Guru Dead at 43

guru

In early March, rapper Guru of Gang Starr  reportedly had a heart attack and was left in a coma. He has now passed away at the age of 43 from cancer, which he had been battling in private for over a year.

Although Guru had been in a coma for the last couple of months supposedly he wrotethis letter while on his death bed. After reading the letter all I could do personally was roll my eyes but, take it how you want. It reads:

Producer Solar released a letter that he says was written by the rapper, which said in part: “I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized, approved by Solar on behalf of myself and my son until he is of age to accept on his own. I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. I had nothing to do with him in life for over seven years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story.”

*Static* Guess that means Premiere and him weren’t setting horses huh. Deep…RIP Guru
This is one of my faves from my backpacker days. AHHH hiphop…

This is the video for Drake’s latest single titled “Over”.  Although the video was very nice I think I got my hopes a little too high for it but, it was definitely better than “Best You Ever Had”. Keep up the good work Drake!! :)

Me and Lyfe Jennings!

// April 12th, 2010 // No Comments » // My Thoughts

I will be the first to admit I was never a Lyfe Jennings fan. I never listened to any of his albums and only tolerated his radio hits (I did like Must Be Nice). After meeting him on Wednesday, March 31st when he came to kick off the station’s spring concert series at the Loft…I have to say I AM A FAN! He has a beautiful voice and a genuine spirit. His body is bangin too! lol
